Further disruption to ISA market predicted March 5
Following last week’s downturn, investment experts are predicting further disruption to the ISA market as the London stock market, in line with markets across the globe, continues to dip steadily.
While UK savers put £2.5 billion into ISA’s last year, it is believed that many will now begin to put their spare money towards paying off debts rather than invest it in an ISA, given the precariousness of the stock market.
Justin Modray, an investment advisor at Bestinvest, said: “If last week was the extent of the jitters, then it won’t have any meaningful impact but if it continues this week, it could cause investors to doubt markets and postpone moving in or not do an ISA this year at all.”
With the deadline for investing in an ISA April 5th, it is feared that many people will chose not to invest by this route this time around, though some investors may be keen to take advantage of the lower prices, experts have speculated.
